Trust calls for all Leeds United fans to show one minute’s appreciation for Toby Nye

Leeds United fans everywhere have been touched by the story of four-year-old Toby Nye, who is suffering from High-Risk Neuroblastoma – a rare form of cancer which spreads rapidly across the body.

The game against Sheffield United on Friday 27th October has been promoted as ‘One Day For Toby’, during and leading up to which the club is making a series of gestures with the aim of raising the £200,000 that is needed to fund Toby’s treatment – treatment which is not routinely available on the NHS.

This includes the superb gesture of members of staff, management and the playing squad donating a day’s salary towards Toby’s cause.

Upon announcing the funding initiative, a number of Trust members immediately contacted us to ask how they could contribute, and we have directed people towards the Just Giving Page for Toby, through which Leeds fans and Trust members can make a direct donation.

We were then approached by a Trust member (Darren McGregor) who kindly donated a current home shirt signed by all the first team squad at Leeds United. This is now available for auction on eBay, and so far there have been 19 bids for the shirt and the auction price currently stands at £400. The auction ends shortly before Kick-Off for the Sheffield United game, at which point the winning proceeds will be donated to Toby’s cause.

As a final gesture of support and appreciation, the Trust would like to ask all fans, including those from our visitors Sheffield United, to join us in one minute’s applause on the fourth minute of the game on Friday evening. A visual prompt will appear on the big screen in the South West Corner to signal the start of this and it would be fantastic to hear a full house at Elland Road showing their support for Toby’s incredibly brave battle. Thank you.
